If you tend to get infections easily, or just had some dental work done, you may be more concerned about developing an oral infection than most.
There are a few things that you can do to help decrease your chances of developing an oral infection.
Each of them is meant to help keep your mouth clean and allow it to heal more effectively than it may do on its own. Here are a few options to help keep your mouth healthy and avoid an infection.
Ways of Helping Keep Your Mouth Healthy
First, salt water rinses are a great way of preventing an oral infection. The water's salinity kills off bacteria, and promotes better healing within your mouth, no matter what your mouth may be healing from.
Second, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, making sure to spit it out, can also do a lot to help prevent any type of oral infection. If this is something you want to try, ask us about how strong of a solution you should use when you are in our office.
Finally, make sure that you are keeping your mouth clean. Brush your teeth at least two times each day, more if we tell you to. Floss at least once, and follow that flossing with a rinsing with a good mouthwash. This way, you kill off any bacteria left in your mouth that may have been missed during brushing and flossing.
